Welcome to the Colchester Branch of Parkinson’s UK. Our aim is to be there for anyone diagnosed with Parkinson’s, their carers and/or partners, or anyone affected by the condition who lives in the Colchester area. We do this by providing services, events, activities and meetings, which are open to all members, and in some cases as indicated, all those associated with Parkinson’s UK in the Colchester area.

Parkinson's Nurse Specialist

Parkinson’s nurses are general nurses with specialist experience, knowledge and skill in Parkinson's. They play a vital role in caring for people with the condition. They also offer information and advice to families of people with Parkinson’s and to other health and social care professionals. They support people in coming to terms with their diagnosis and help them to manage their medication so that they get the best results and fewer side effects. Parkinson's nurses can make referrals to other professionals such as speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Access to a Parkinson's nurse is through a referral from you GP.
